Shock Wave
Stefie Shock has become somewhat of a pop sensation in Quebec and France, and for his hit single, Salut Chantal, Les Films Stupéfiants had a very creative idea in which to present this energetic song in video form. The core of idea's came from Les Films Stupéfiants creators Alain Pichette and Andre Motambeault.
Setting up production in St-Ambroise Studios, Montreal, production teams sifted through almost 1,500 still images taken in Montreal which where collaged on a back board. The images, made a trail, in which a camera was to follow. The collage-trail, was interrupted twice by blue screen, which Stefie would be inserted into.
Camera e-Motion conducted two days of Motion Control work using a Sony 24/P High Definition camera. Louis Fatal, another Montreal Post-Prod house, created Previz, which included a 3D MILO and the entire shot sequence. Marc Côté and his team imported the Previz to run on MILO and did several passes of the collage-trail.
Camera e-Motion also did multiple passes of Stefie Shock to later be composited over the blue screen which was inserted in the collage. During the shoot, Marc Côté, Senior MoCo operator also did some improvising for some opening shots of Mr. Shock before the music began.
The Motion Control aspect proved t be a very creative and vibrant way of illustrating the video, as MILO sweeped across the collage several creative maneuvers were employed, including full 360 rolls of the camera.
Stefie Shock's new video, Salut Chantal, can be seen in both Quebec and France as of December 2003.
